2008 Bike to Work Week
Community Leaders & Public Bicycle Ride
Friday May 16th, 2008 – 9am

The Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization’s (CAMPO) Bicycle and Pedestrian Stakeholders Group (BPSG) would like to invite you to join us for a bicycle ride around the Capitol Bldg!  We’re biking to raise awareness for bicycle commuting, its benefits and obstacles, and to showcase using bicycles as an alternate form of transportation.  This event is part of National Bike to Work Week, May 11-17, 2008.

The group ride will begin at 9am on the north side of the Bicentennial Mall (across from the Legislative Bldg).  The route will be 1.15 miles long, circle the Capitol Bldg and proceed down Fayetteville St, and will take riders approximately 15 minutes.  Streets will be open to traffic.

Following the ride, there will be a Bike to Work Week Breakfast and Prize Give-a-ways, sponsored by TTA & the SmartCommute Challenge, at the bicycle ride meet location.  This is open to all group ride participants.

If you would like to participate in this event, please complete this form and return it to JJ Walter by Friday, May 9th (electronically, fax, or by mail – see below).

This year, between April 15 and May 30 is the SmartCommute Challenge in the Triangle.  The Smart Commute Challenge asks area workers to try a smarter commute, i.e. biking to work or to the bus, carpooling or vanpooling, teleworking or walking.  You can make a pledge to take the Challenge online at www.smartcommutechallenge.org.

THANK YOU for helping us with this exciting new event for Bike to Work Week!
